Say what?
Babies do indeed change everything--including what we talk about. We used to laugh and roll our eyes at our friends when they warned us that our conversations would be dominated by the contents of our daughter's diapers. We're two college educated, widely traveled and experienced adults, we thought. We read books! We watch documentaries! We listen to NPR!!!!
But oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Here's a list of a few things we find ourselves routinely saying. They're best taken out of context, so I'll avoid explanation.
1. "Yay! Poopie!!!! Honey, come see the poopie!"
2. "I seem to have lost another nipple . . . "
3. "You tell that froggie in your belly to go night-night."
4. "TIme to moisturize the crevASSses!"
5. Hello, my little papoose burrito!"
6. Singing "baby" or EvieJune" repeatedly to the tune of any motown song.
7. "If you were a president, you'd be Babraham Stinkin!" (Author's note: this one is all Jimmy)
8. "You were such a good girl today that the toejam fairy left you extra presents!"
9. "Nose nose nose nose nose nose nose nose . . ."
10. And whatever it is I'm babbling about below. Though its no intellectual debate, the payoff is obvious.
