Just a little off the top . . .
Evie June got her first haircut! Granted, she's still a little patchy, but there's enough there now that it merited evening out. And the mullet was getting so out of hand that I was getting tired of random people asking me if we'd gotten our season passes for Truckzilla or the tractor pull series yet.
But it didn't bother Evie enough to go quietly under the shears. Luckily we had patient helpers. First, Hilda from our small group was the expert stylist. And Duck bravely volunteered to show Evie how things go.
Sadly, his example wasn't enough. Even sadder, I was unable to take any real photos of the haircut, because Evie was screaming and clinging to me as Hilda reached up to trim the back and front of her hair. As traumatic as this first was, the first that followed was blessedly sweet. Evie enjoyed her first sucker. Here we are afterward, Evie shaking off the tears to taste her watermelon DumDum.
Trauma aside, we all love the results. Even Evie, who has taken to sporting bows instead of bedhead.

Sweet Spot
We scored this great little chair for Evie June at our favorite consignment store. She's taken to curling up there with a good book lately.
Now if only she'd stay this happy long enough for me to curl up with a good book in a slightly larger chair.

Twelve Christmas Memories
Its really not possible to narrate the last two weeks in our lives, so we decided to play a little game. We chose twelve pictures from our holiday whirlwind trip through Kentucky and West Virginia. We each get to write ONE line of text about that picture. Enjoy filling in the stories for yourselves.
Jimmy: "Evie tries out new snowman scented stick-n-sniff stickers." Jen: "Stick-HERS."
Jimmy: "My dad takes care of my women. Jen-Christmas 04, Evie-Christmas 07, We are a well vacuumed family." Jen: "A toy that doesn't suck."
Jimmy: "A cousin + a ball + a trampoline = infinite bouncing bliss" Jen: "Evie was always the egg during games of "Crack the Egg" with Hayden."
Jimmy: "Evie takes her Pop-pop for another $20 with the shell game." Jen: "Next visit Pop intends to teach Evie June to count cards."
Jimmy: "Big head." Jen: "Mr. Potato-who?"
Jimmy: "Cousins Sawyer and Alex pose cautiously with the crazy-eyed fowl handler." Jen: "Pay no attention to the man behind the baby."
Jimmy: "lol! your im from the www is so funny! ur a hoot! ttyl! ev." Jen: "800 shared family minutes equals 400 time-outs."
Jimmy: "Oak headboard, meet Evie. Evie, meet headboard. Let's not meet like this again. Please." Jen: "NO MORE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED!"
Jimmy: "Evie liked eating at her cousin Logan's table because it had a fishbowl with a real fish in it. There's nothing funny about that." Jen: "Fruit snacks and lemon cake=Evie June's new favorite snack."
Jimmy: "Writer's block. Drinking may help the flow." Jen: "Because when the pen runs dry, you can always just lick the Aquadoodle."
Jimmy: "Co-ed swimming...hee hee hee...I don't know what it means but I think I'm getting away with something..." Jen: "This was way more fun than the last time Jody (my college roommate) and I washed three weeks of dishes in our dorm bathtub after Christmas break. And neither baby left a scummy pink ring around the rim. Bonus!"
Jimmy: "Christmas wouldn't be complete without a one-horse open sleigh. Hey!" Jen: "Some people put on holiday weight because they eat so much; Evie simply conserved energy at others' expense.
