Down On The Farm(s)

This past weekend Evie had her godbrothers - Keldan, Skye, and Timothy Campbell - to keep her company. Though the boys are a bit older than Evie (7 1/2, 5 1/2, and 4), their parents, Andrew and Becky, keep hinting about an arranged marriage to join our clans together. Geesh, she's not even 7 months old and I'm already guarding her from potential suitors...

Luckily the boys had less of my daughter on their minds this weekend and more of the fun that awaited us all at the Skagit Valley Festival of Family Farms. Since our region is so rich in farmland, about 15 or so local farmers and ranchers opened up their land to share and show off their bountiful produce to the community. From alpacas to pumpkins, organic livestock to organic apples, and corn mazes to hay rides, it was great for both adults and kids alike . . . especially boys that like to race and crash corn husk cars.

While the boys experienced their first pony ride,

Evie played it safe (and avoided making mom sneezy from the horses) by instead riding her first pumpkin.

Anything the boys could do,

Evie made sure she got to try too.

It was a full day with free apples, vegetable sculptures, corn maze expeditions, fresh berry milkshakes, goat petting and even a little chicken chasing. It was a great way to spend a Saturday with 3 energetic boys and 1 wide-eyed daughter. And I don't think she really minded all of the attention either.

Poppy will be so thrilled to see you on that tractor Evie!

My favorite picture though is your huge grin sitting in with the pumpkins and the boys.

Can't wait to see what pictures your daddy is envisioning for when you help him carve a pumpkin!

Hugs to all three of you!
