Our Old Kentucky Home

It's been a while since we wrote last, and much has happened. Last Friday, we headed out to KY for a family reunion at my Uncle Tom's house (not cabin) in Marion. Here are a few of the things Evie learned on her first trip to the Bluegrass state.

Kentucky is way hotter than Washington. Though that's drool, not baby sweat on her face.

Mommy and the aunties talk funny. Our husbands have long accused us of speaking our own language, now Evie seems to agree.

Great-Grandma Evelyn is the coolest! Also, she learned that if you're old enough or young enough, no one really minds if you don't look at the camera.

Boys are wierd. Evie wisely kept a safe distance from this wild bunch of cousins. Next year, all predict she'll have them running scared.

No shirt, no shoes, no problem. Evie June goes native with Uncle Derry for a little early evening firefly watching.

Boys are wierder. Cousin Hayden loves "Baby EEBYJOOON", but he's not ready to share his stuff yet.

Kids under five get in free! Cousin Logan and Evie June enjoy their first drive-in movie. They were far more interested in the local color (i.e. tailgaiting rednecks flouting open container laws).

Western Kentucky University has excellent tuition breaks for children of alumni. Here, the next generation of Hilltoppers (Brandon, Evie June Isabelle and Avery) relax after their first campus visit to their moms' alma mater.

Most of all, Evie June learned that Kentucky is full of people who love her and welcome her into the family. We can't wait to go back!

I feel like I just had a reunion by looking at these pictures!!
Okay, let me see if I win the "put the kid with the parent" game.
Jenny's are Avery and Brandon (who looks just like Adam!), and Isabelle is Jodi's. The kids all are so cute! And it was great to see pics of your family. It looks like you all had a great visit! I hope I can catch you all during X-mas this year! :)love, Beth
