Getting Ready

Last Monday, I took Evie June to the health department to finish off her immunizations. It was understandably traumatic to get five shots in her legs, but she recovered very quickly--a process sped along by a pack of smarties from the nurse and a vanilla Frosty from Wendy's. And since then she's been talking about her superstrong legs--how they help her bicycle faster and fight germs and things. And then a few days later, she was feeling so well she decided to sing a little song about it while we were driving to swimming:

"Sometimes you have to get lots of shots . . .

. . . in your legs. And they hurt. But only for a while.

And then, they feel better,

And then, you get to go get Saroj."

We're still waiting on passport for Saroj, but we're filling our time with fun events like the Skagit Valley Festival of Family Farms. We milked a fake cow . . .

Painted and raced a speedy squash car:

And spotted pumpkins before retrieving them from the field.

She also got up close to this mega-pumpkin, prompting Mommy to wonder if maybe it got some shots recently as well . . .
