Zoo Time!
The BIGGEST news around our house this past month has been Evie's new found independence in the "waste management" department of her life (i.e. "number two in the potty".) I'm being careful with my words here as to not offend anyone as we already made the mistake of e-mailing a proud picture of Evie and her business to some friends and family and received, well you could say, less than expected responses about the photo. Something about only being cute if it's your own kid...
So, sparing you the shock and horror of seeing, well you know what, I will share that Evie is now ALMOST completely potty trained! After 10 installments of 1 matchbox car and 5 candies per "deposit", we realized that we were going to be broke and our child would probably lose her nice teeth if we didn't change the bribes. Jen (aka "Super Momma") cleverly made a chart for Evie to add a sticker to every time she added something significant to the potty. Ten St. Patty's day stickers later (she called the pot of gold "potta oatmeal!") she earned a trip to the Seattle zoo.

We had a great time watching Evie run like a cheetah on the grass of the zoo grounds as we picnicked in the sun.

She brought her own penguin to see the new penguin exhibit.

She was most excited to see the elephant and a few monkeys and then relaxed as I chauffeured her around.

Evie perked up though when it came time ride the carousel horse with mom.

We finished the day off with some treats at Dairy Queen. I had no idea that an ice cream cone that big could fit into a little girl that small. She might get that from me.

"Evie, can I have a lick?"

"Daddy, don't be silly. I earned this thing!"

We so proud of our little super dooper pooper. I'll say no more.

It is so much fun to watch her grow up. While I miss you guys, I don't feel like I'm missing out on everything. Congratulations to Evie and to mom and dad for the patience it took.

Hi Jen --
I just hopped over to your blog from the Dillon Forum, and I'm having a good laugh -- we are in the same phase of life with our daughter Anya Rashi. :o) If you have Grandmas close by, they're the only ones who get just as excited about potty progress.
Hmmm. "Super duper pooper" makes me think you checked out the same DVD from the library that we did . . . or maybe you're just more creative than I am!
