Kiss and Tell

We've had a bit of a bumpy few weeks. After Evie June's wonderful birthday and great visit with MeeMee, everyone's favorite one -year-old spiked a high fever. On the fifth day of her sickness after the fever broke, a bizarre rash appeared and the doctor was able to diagnose her with something called Roseola. My first reaction when the doctor shared this bit of hard-earned knowledge? Relief. My second thought? Isn't that one of those diseases babies got back in the fifties? Apparently I was wrong, and Roseola is a relatively common ailment. Luckily, the only real lasting effect is that it took Evie June a little while to recover her easygoing nature.

That complication, coupled with insane amounts of clean-up I had to do at work after four days of substitute teachers, has kept us all a little busy of late. That said, sorry for the late posting. I hope today's installment makes up in cuteness what it lacks in timeliness.

First, Evie discovered she likes cookies better than cake and ice cream. One of Jimmy's clients recently shared a batch of whole-wheat, organic healthy cookies, and Evie decided to help herself. Of course this event came on the heels of a two week dance marathon to her new favorite song: "Me Lost Me Cookie at the Disco." (Thanks, Auntie Katy for the music choice). Evie June nibbled it a bit, but mainly danced around with it, gleeful that she, unlike Cookie monster, will never dance alone again.

Evie's also going crazy with the climbing. Contrary to popular wisdom, her nightly bath does not calm her down and mellow her out. Instead, she climbs the walls. Nekkid.

But perhaps the most enjoyable development has been Evie's new talent for giving and receiving kisses. She kisses books, faces, her hand when she scoops up dirt from the floor, and her reflection. But no one gets more love than her new friend Jack.

I'm not sure what it means that she's just as happy shoving him back in the box as she is kissing him . . .

I was going to suggest something along the lines of Evie looking up Jen's skirt, but KJ's "Hey Dad, what is that up your nose?" is so much better...
