Sum sum summertime!

Today was unseasonably warm for the Northwest this time of year - this meant one thing - time to put the screens in the windows and let the breezes flow. This also meant washing the windows with the handy windex/garden hose contraption and hosing off last year's collection of dust, cobwebs and whatever Evie may have wiped on the screens. While Jen was blasting the windows, I was in the back yard teaching Evie how to use the hose nozzle to clean the screens. This led to me demonstrating all seven of the spraying options, which led to Evie trying to get wet by all of them.

After a few minutes, I did what any self-respecting father would do - I got out the lawn sprinkler.

Her obvious love of getting wet comes from swimming with Mommy two times a week.

And I think her disregard for her pants falling down comes from our increasingly frequent trips to the potty in hopes of a delivery.

Oh the joy.

Oh the yummy hydration.

Days like this remind me what's truly important in our lives. It's NOT home improvement, it's NOT staying dry and avoiding changing clothes 3 times in a day, and it's NOT buying my daughter lots of expensive stuff.

At the end of the day, I laugh and smile and give thanks for a wet little, raisin-pruned bundle of irrepressible joy who loves to gives me hugs - even if that means I get a little wet too.

PS Here's somewhat of a highlight reel...
