Dancing Queen

So the past few weeks have been pretty full. A weeklong visit with my mom (inspiring Evie to walk around the house for days afterward asking "Where's Nana? Where's Nana coat?"), a nasty cold we all got (inspiring Evie to pick up the bad habit of spitting in order to emulate her sick mother and father--sadly, Evie's spitting was not into a tissue or a trash can), and a home improvement project involving making our rumpus room even more multipurpose (pictures to follow when we're done). We also scored some nice finds at garage sales (a giant FROG sandbox for five bucks!), and have been thoroughly enjoying Evie's abundance of personality.

And lately, anytime there's music--whether in the grocery store, at church, in the car--Evie can't fight the groove. And when we kept Peyton one day last week after school, she learned what only an eight year old role model can teach her: that dressing up and dancing go hand in hand.

Dance, baby, dance!

Evie June and her guru . . .

Plotting her next move . . .

And here she in action. She's got quite an elaborate routine she puts on sometimes, but this day was all about her signature step--the flailing swan. Graceful, no?

I like the flapping. It looks quite fun to do.
