On the Road Again

A few updates . . .

I finished marking my exams. I was very careful with my score totalling so as to avoid reinforcing the stereotype that Americans cannot add. Gotta represent . . .

We've moved out of our apartment. All the borrowed items (and our beloved DSL) have been returned.

We've left Chandigarh. It was harder than you might imagine to leave behind a place we've called home for four months, and people who've loved us and treated us like family.

We're on the road. (Or will be in the air, rather). We're spending our last week in India in the extreme southern state of Kerala on the west coast. We'll be relaxing on the beach, visiting tea plantations, stalking the unpredictable Indian elephant, and enjoying a backwater cruise on a houseboat (actually, a converted rice barge). We'll also be generally trying to forget how much we're missing at home with family and friends and the holiday right now.

We'll be checking email and updating if we can. If we don't get another chance, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We'll be back in Washington (if they let us board the plane with luggage weighing twice as much as we do) on the evening of the 30th. Make it your resolution now to check back for updates.

Miss you all!
Jen

Jim and Jen,

I can truly say that I have enjoyed the chronicles of your adventure. Hope you make it home safely. By the way, as a highway designer, I am very fond of the roundabout. If an accident occurs, we can truly blame the driver. We take no fault. Our insurance company loves them as well.

Take care and Merry Christmas

Jen and Jimmy -- Best of luck on your travels, thank you for the fantastic log of your time thus far, and Merry Christmas in advance!

Crazy small world note -- my sister is en route this very minute to Kerala! Pondicherry to Kovalam with a stop in Madurai in between! If you see her, tell her I said hello. ;)

Love, Amanda

I think everyone has enjoyed the "Adventures of Jimmy and Jen". I know that I have. The vast information that you both have graciously shared has been so educational. You have taken most of us to another part of the world that we would not have otherwise seen.

Your family is greatly missing you during this holiday season, but knowing that you will be back in the USA soon, makes it somewhat easier to deal with.

I do so envy Angie & Troy and the rest of your friends in Washington, as they will be able to give you both big "welcome home" hugs. I know.... absence makes the heart grow fonder. Well, my heart is about to explode right now.

We love you and miss you. Merry Christmas.
